Reykjavik Old Town Private Walking Tour with Whale Watching Cruise Tickets

Your Experience

Explore Reykjavík's Old Town with a private 5-hour guided walk, then use pre-booked tickets for a whale watching cruise.

Getting started

Meet your professional 5-star licensed guide for your 5-hour private Old Town walking tour in central Reykjavík. After a brief introduction to the route and logistics, you set off on foot through the historic streets of Reykjavík's Old Town. Your guide explains how and when you will use your pre-booked whale watching cruise tickets later in the experience.

What to expect

Reykjavík Old Town

Reykjavík Old Town is the historic heart of Iceland's capital, where government, culture, and daily life meet in a compact, walkable area. During your private walking tour, your guide focuses on Icelandic history, culture, legends, and modern life.

Features

• Hallgrimskirkja appears on your route as one of Reykjavík's most iconic landmarks, giving you a clear sense of the city's skyline and architectural character.
• City Hall features as a key stop where you can observe how Reykjavík's administration fits into the wider story of Iceland's governance and urban development.
• Parliament House is included on the walk so you can see where national decisions are made and hear how Iceland's political history shaped the country.
• The 5-hour private Old Town walking tour format gives you time to move at your own pace, ask questions, and adapt the route within Reykjavík's Old Town.
• A professional 5-star licensed guide, described as an expert guide in the inclusions, leads the walk and shares interesting facts about Icelandic history, culture, and wildlife.
• Throughout the tour you receive insider tips on the best things to do in Reykjavík, including recommendations tailored to your interests.

Whale watching cruise

After exploring the city on foot, attention shifts from streets to sea as you prepare to join a whale watching cruise in Faxaflói Bay. This cruise is operated separately and features live commentary from the captain.

Features

• Pre-booked tickets for a whale watching cruise, listed as pre-booked whale watching cruise tickets in the variant, remove the need to arrange your own booking for this part of the experience.
• From the boat you head into Faxaflói Bay, where you can look out for local wildlife while listening to commentary about marine life in the area.
• There is no private guide during the cruise, because commentary is provided live by the captain rather than your Old Town guide.
• Facts about Icelandic wildlife that you heard earlier from your guide help you connect the animals you may see in Faxaflói Bay with the broader natural environment around Reykjavík.

Wrapping up

Once the whale watching cruise returns to shore, your combined Old Town tour and cruise ticket has been fully used, and you can continue exploring Reykjavík independently using the insider tips shared earlier in the day.
