Your Experience

Getting started

The visit is fully guided, so you can follow the experience step by step without needing to navigate anything on your own.

What to expect

Argan groves in the Essaouira countryside

Set in the argan groves of the Essaouira countryside, around 25 km from town, this visit starts where the process begins: the trees themselves.

Features

• You see the argan groves in the countryside and follow argan from the tree to the bottle, observing how the nuts are sourced before entering the cooperative.
• A visit to argan groves in the countryside is included in your standard group guided tour, so you can understand the landscape that makes this oil possible.

Argan cooperative

Inside the cooperative, you meet the women who carry out each step of production and trace the full journey from raw nut to finished oil.

Features

• During the guided visit of the cooperative, you watch the women of the cooperative at work and see every stage that turns argan nuts into culinary and cosmetic oil.
• A key moment is the hands-on cracking and pressing, where you crack the nuts and take part in the pressing yourself using traditional methods.
• You learn what separates culinary oil from cosmetic oil, so you can recognise the differences in how each type is prepared and used.
• Tea is served during the visit, giving you a short break to sit, ask questions, and take in what you have just seen.
• Souvenir photos are included, so you leave with images of your hands-on cracking and pressing experience and your time with the women of the cooperative.
