Your Experience

Explore Badaling Great Wall at your own pace with pre-booked entry, hiking access, and optional cable car rides.

Getting started

Enter Badaling Great Wall using your official pre-booked ticket and proceed through the main access point after the standard security checks. Your passport-based entry is handled in advance, so you can focus on your visit rather than on-site paperwork. Once inside, choose your route toward Heroes Slope and the nearby watchtowers to begin your self-guided exploration.

What to expect

Badaling Great Wall

This section of the Great Wall is one of the most visited and is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With a layout that includes Heroes Slope and multiple historic watchtowers, it offers a mix of sloping paths and elevated viewpoints that you can explore independently.

Features

• Access to Heroes Slope and watchtowers gives you a chance to walk along one of the Great Wall's most talked-about inclines and step into historic lookout points that once guarded the approaches to Beijing. You can take your time along this route, pausing at different watchtowers for views of the wall stretching across the surrounding hills.
• Your self-guided visit at your own pace means there are no fixed schedules or mandatory group itineraries; you decide how far to walk, where to stop, and how long to spend at each point of interest. This independent format lets you shape the visit around your energy level and interests.
• With hiking access on foot only, as per the hiking-only option selected, you follow the pathways on the wall itself, experiencing the changing gradients and stair sections directly underfoot. For many visitors, this physical route is part of appreciating how the wall adapts to the terrain.
• A one-way cable car ride up or a round-trip cable car ride, as per the cable car option selected, provides a different way to experience Badaling. Using the cable car helps you save energy on the steepest sections while giving you panoramic views of the wall as it traces the ridgelines.
• Entry to Badaling Great Wall is secured in advance through a simple ticket-booking service, which streamlines document handling for your passport-based entry. This pre-booked access lets you focus on exploring the legendary Badaling section instead of managing on-the-spot ticket logistics.

Wrapping up

You can choose between three variants for this experience: Entry Tickets Only with Hiking Access if you prefer to explore entirely on foot, Entry Tickets + One-Way Cable Car Up if you want a single cable ride to start higher on the wall, or Entry Tickets + Round-Trip Cable Car if you want cable access both up and down. After your self-guided visit, you are free to leave the Badaling Great Wall area whenever you are ready, using the same general exit routes followed by day visitors.
